SINGAPORE, November 17, 2025 – As digital transformation accelerates across Southeast Asia, Alarm.com is positioning itself at the centre of the region’s connected security evolution. Speaking to AsiaBizToday on the sidelines of The Security Event Asia 2025, Ian Law, Director of Business Development for Asia Pacific at Alarm.com, outlined how the company is merging legacy systems with next-generation, cloud-managed technology to create smarter, more intuitive security experiences for both residential and commercial customers.
Law, who oversees the company’s business development across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and emerging ASEAN markets, emphasised that while cultural nuances exist across the region, the core motivations behind security remain universal.

“People want to feel secure. They want to know what’s happening at their property, and that their families or businesses are safe,” he said. “Across markets, from Australia to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, the fundamental needs are the same, even if property types and density vary.”
Unified Platform Responds to ASEAN’s Fragmented Security Landscape
In many Southeast Asian markets, businesses still rely on a patchwork of traditional alarm systems, disconnected cameras, and standalone access control solutions. This fragmentation is one of the biggest barriers to operational efficiency.
Alarm.com’s approach, showcased prominently at the event, centres on its One Unified Platform, which brings intrusion detection, video surveillance, access control, and automation into a single cloud environment.
The platform also leverages the new Alarm.com Universal Communicator (AUC) — a device designed to connect legacy alarm panels to the cloud without requiring a complete overhaul of existing systems.
“Unifying the ecosystem is what really drives value,” Law said. “Access, CCTV, alarms — they can now talk to each other. That means a business owner can control multiple sites, push access credentials instantly, or receive smart alerts in real time.”
Pagers to AI-Driven Insights
Law reflected on Alarm.com’s technological journey since its founding in 2000. What began with the transmission of signals over pager networks has grown into a sophisticated, cloud-first architecture serving millions of connected properties worldwide.
The turning point was the advent of push notifications with the rise of the smartphone era.
“When the iPhone came in, the industry changed,” Law said. “Real-time visual notifications helped customers connect with their properties in ways that just weren’t possible before.”
Artificial intelligence now sits at the heart of the company’s innovation roadmap. Several AI-enabled capabilities — some already deployed, others coming soon—demonstrate how Alarm.com is using intelligent automation to reduce false alarms, deepen insights, and enhance situational awareness.
Commercial Demand and ASEAN Expansion
While residential adoption varies across Southeast Asia, Alarm.com sees the strongest growth momentum in Singapore’s commercial sector. “In Singapore, most of our installation partners are serving commercial customers,” Law noted. “The need for multi-site management, standardised systems, and centralised user control is especially pronounced here.”
With millions of systems deployed globally, Alarm.com is increasing its investment in Singapore and the wider ASEAN region. “Our mission,” Law said, “is to make smart security straightforward and dependable. We want to give our partners the tools to grow their businesses, and end users the peace of mind they deserve.”
